Red Wing Shoes 877 Moc Toe's in the Wilderness

A wonderful image depicting Richard "Dick" Proenneke in front of his home made log cabin, somewhere in the wilderness of Alaska. If you look closely, you will notice Proenneke wearing a pair of well worn Red Wing Shoes 877 Moc Toe's. Isn't that the way it should be? If you don't know about the story of Proenneke, we suggest you go see the documentary "Alone in the Wilderness" immediately. Entirely shot by himself in the late '60s, when Proenneke retired from being a marine in the US army. He then decided to move to the Alaska, where he would build his log cabin with fire place around the Twin Lakes area. He lived here for over 30 years, where he took photo- and video-footage of his daily routines and kept journals of his life in the wilderness.
