We are excited to bring you more in-depth details on the 'Japanese' Red Wing 9877. The Red Wing 9877 ‘Irish Setter’ features unique details that were seen on the earliest versions of the iconic ‘Irish Setter’ hunting boots collection from the 1950s.
In the 1930s the Red Wing Shoe Company was manufacturing the style 668, which was a 10-inch field hunting boot that was similar to the iconic Red Wing style 877 introduced in 1952.
The 877 became the iconic boot of the ‘Irish Setter’ hunting collection. During the half century that followed the colour of the boots changed from yellowish to red and back to orange. For this particular 9877 boot Red Wing created the Gold Sequoia leather, similar to the colour from the first Irish Setters release in the 1950s.
